Ask an author: Lila Felix
Join local author Lila Felix as she discusses starting a writing career and becoming a hybrid author – both traditional and self-published. This event will be for ages 18 and up. Main Branch Aug 15, 6 pm. Registration required.
Clues to the catalog
What is the single best-kept secret at your library? The catalog! Livingston Parish Library’s online catalog is one of the most powerful resources you – a library patron- have at your fingertips. Learn how to search the catalog and other library resources quickly and with ease, make payments on-line, create and organize your personal reading or wish lists, and even submit your opinions on what you’ve read for other patrons to enjoy. For ages 12 and up. You will need a Livingston Parish Library card and a basic working knowledge of computers. DS-Walker, Aug 16 at 2:30 pm and Aug 29 at 6:30 pm. Registration required.

LEGO meets Edison robots
Enthusiasts ages 8-18 are invited to join a group that meets monthly at the Branch of the Livingston Parish Library to learn more about how LEGO building and simple robots can be combined using Edison technology. Our club meets in two groups on Tuesday, August 15 ̶ one at 4:30 p.m. and the other at 6:00 p.m. Albany-Springfield, Aug 15, 4:30 and 6 m. Registration opens two weeks before event.
Homeschoolers meet and greet
Gear up for your best school year ever with help from the library! See demonstrations of the many resources the library has to offer, meet other homeschooling families, and discuss how the library can best meet your educational needs on Tuesday, You are welcome to bring your children, who will be able to try out a sampling of our hands-on resources. Practice ACT Test
Are you dreading the ACT? Find out how much preparation you need by taking a free ACT Practice Test given by the Princeton Review at the Denham Springs-Walker Branch of the Livingston Parish Library on Saturday, August 19 from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Take the test and see how you did in order to prepare for the real thing.
